Home Harvest Kitchen Gardens has had the opprtunity to work with Gorsebrook Jr. High in Halifax’s south end to create a unique learning environment for its students. The twelve raised bed herb and vegetable gardens have been planted with a huge vareiety of crops including tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, kale, beans, squash, dill, fennel and so much more.
The corner beds enclosing the pergola will be planted with climbing fruit vines that will evenutally provide shade for the outdoor classroom where picnic tables will be used for classroom seating.
This has been an incredile project for Home Harvest and we look forward to working with the teachers and students to ensure the garden’s continued success.

Why organic?
Applying synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides has a deadly effect on this rich ecosystem ultimately leaving soil toxic and sterile.
At Home Harvest we believe there is an undeniable link between healthy soil, healthy plants and healthy people. In all of our garden projects we focus on sustainable methods and materials. We never use harmful chemicals.
